On Saturday, August 29, I had the pleasure of photographing the 2026 Jamie Daniels Foundation Celebrity Roast of Chris Osgood at MotorCity Casino in Detroit. While the evening was filled with plenty of laughter, stories, and Detroit sports personalities, the event represented the coming together to support an incredibly important cause.
The Jamie Daniels Foundation was created by Ken Daniels and Lisa Daniels-Goldman following the heartbreaking loss of their 23-year-old son, Jamie, to an overdose. The foundation works to prevent substance use, support individuals in recovery, and help reduce the stigma surrounding substance use.
Over the years, the Jamie Daniels Foundation has brought together some of Detroit's best-known sports figures for its Celebrity Roasts—creating an evening where humor and storytelling help raise awareness and critical funds for the foundation's work.
This year's event honored Chris Osgood, former Detroit Red Wings goaltender, with sportscaster John Keating serving as host. The evening brought together friends, family, supporters, sponsors, and members of Detroit's sports community for a memorable night in support of the Jamie Daniels Foundation.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the event's sponsors, donors, guests, and supporters, the 2026 Jamie Daniels Foundation Celebrity Roast of Chris Osgood raised more than $400,000. It was a night filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, and plenty of Detroit sports spirit but most importantly, it was a night focused on helping children, teens, young adults, and families impacted by substance use disorder.
As an event photographer based in Ann Arbor, I have the privilege of photographing a wide range of nonprofit events, fundraisers and galas throughout Detroit and southeast Michigan. Events like this are especially meaningful because the photographs aren't simply about documenting what happened that evening. They're about preserving the people, moments, and connections behind the work—and creating images that organizations can continue to use to tell their stories.
