Charlotte Smith (she/her) is a photographer whose work explores the subtle ways people relate to one another and the world around them. She approaches every project with honesty and authenticity, documenting unscripted moments to create a colorful narrative. With a background in photojournalism, she has developed a strong ability to anticipate in-between moments and let them unfold naturally—whether documenting an event, creating a portrait, or working on a long-form project.

Her work has been published in TIME, The New York Times, and Discover Magazine, and she has collaborated with organizations including the University of Michigan, the National Park Service, and Ford Motor Company. She especially enjoys working with local nonprofits such as the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and the Pope Francis Center in Detroit, and is passionate about using visual storytelling to highlight meaningful work happening within communities.

Growing up in the remote backwoods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and now based in Ann Arbor, Charlotte is happy to travel. She welcomes opportunities to connect with new collaborators and learn about their projects, believing that no story is too big or too small and that it is an honor to help tell them.
